i am a dreamer

there are some people who live in a dreamworld, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.

old journal pages

Funny when you start revisiting your old journals you realize how much your art has changed. I used to primarily use pen and ink in my journals now I find myself using so many different mediums it's out of control.LOL! I was sitting in my room today going through all these books and was struck by how basic my pages used to be. These days I like to fill them with lots and lots of color and things. I do like seeing where I was at the time.

socks are complete

The socks are finally done!! Yay! They would have been done much sooner but life came in the way. I had a bunch of stuff to do last week so I didn't get to spend as much time on Brutus. I leave for Ottawa, Canada, next Wed. to see my parents so there'll be another five days of downtime. I hope it recharges my battery! LOL!

a day for dogs

WooFstock was hot...... literally! It was about 92 degrees so I'm glad there was a little breeze out. I think we saw most breeds represented yesterday. We had the very small and the very big. I couldn't believe how many Great Danes and Bernese Mountain Dogs I saw. It was a good day if you love dogs...... and that I do!
A special thanks to my friend Cindy for helping out!!!

otis loves water tag

I hope you can tell in this pic that Otis is all wet. He loves to play water tag. It was pretty warm here in Ohio today so Otis got to chase the hose around at the end of the day. I tried to take a photo of him running after the stream of water but I couldn't get the shot! LOL! Wet dog! Ugh!

WooFstock

If you love dogs and live in the Columbus area please attend WooFstock this weekend. It's a day of dogs, music, vendors. food and lots of fun. I'll be an informational vendor. There will be examples of my work on display to show anyone who'd like a commissioned piece. I'm also donating a 12" x 12" mixed media portrait to the raffle. I'm crossing my fingers for no rain!

learn to listen

At times I'm so guilty of not listening. I hear what someone is saying but I'm really not listening. I'm trying to work on this. Slowing down and taking time to listen to what others are trying to communicate......... it's difficult but I do think that I've started to tune in. Actually, I do believe that I quite enjoy the art of listening. Instead of thinking about what I'm going to say next I can concentrate on what the other person is trying to convey to me. Listening, not talking, is a gift.

otis woods

Otis has been working on his hybrid three wood! LOL! Otie loves golf clubs. Every time he sees one he goes nuts. He loves to chase them! Yup! He's my crazy Boston! He also has a great time playing with his big ball but I think I might make a little video of that because it's quite entertaining.

relax and journal

When I arrived at my studio this afternoon, fully intending to mosaic, I got a little sidetracked! I started feeling a little anxious about everything I have to do so I decided to blow off the mosaic and do a journal page instead. I'm learning to step back and relax a little more when things get a little stressful. The process of journaling helped me regroup. Tomorrow is another day and I'll go back in ready for more!

in need of a vacation

I promise, I promise that once I do the grout you'll be able to see all the beautiful white glass on his uniform. I decided not to do a little video this week because it's very slow going. A long vacation with a frosty umbrella drink sounds soooo good to me right now! A note to myself is to try and never do letters in a mosaic again...... I hated it! LOL. I know, I know......... I took this project on so I better stop whining! Glass is my friend!

doggie love

At the end of this month I'll be doing a dog show that's called Woofstock. LOL. I'll be an informational vendor since most of the pet portraits are commissioned. I think I'll bring a couple of the wood burnings and a few of the mixed media portraits for examples. Should be a blast because everyone brings their dog.
I'm seeing my web guy,Brian, tomorrow. I want to bring my two websites together because I think it might be a better idea. There'll be separate galleries for the mosaics and the pet portraits. I was a little on the fence about this but it might be a good idea. Who knows!

change of pace

I thought I'd take a break today from the mosaic and do a little beeswax on a couple of paintings. What a welcome change! Yay! I usually use the white beeswax but sometimes I use the natural color. The natural one smells just like honey...... you could almost eat it. I love the looks this gives when I'm done.

We spent most of the afternoon at the the Dublin Irish Festival, (Dublin, Ohio). They expected more that 100,000 people over the weekend. I was there last night and Friday night and had a blast! The bands are so much fun it's a really good time.
