Native American Prayer

I give you this one thought to keep -
I am with you still - I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awake in the morning's hush
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone -
I am with you still - in each new dawn.

I've never done an art challenge so with the encouragement of my friend and fellow artist Miz Katie, I signed up for Leah Piken Kolidas's Art Every Day Month Challenge which Leah hosts every November! Omg.... what the heck was I thinking...lol. I'm going to attempt this. I usually do something creative most days but there are days that I may take it a little easy...lol. I probably won't post everyday but I will try my best to do something each day and post a few times a week letting you know where I'm at.

This is my kickoff. A friend of mine gave me a ride the other day and we drove through Beechwood Cemetery which is the National Cemetery of Canada. I have to say that it is breathtakingly beautiful and so peaceful. It is the site for those who served in the Canadian Forces. There was a certain feeling of calm that washed over me as we drove through. Tomorrow is All Souls' Day and Day of the Dead so please take a moment and remember friends and family that have passed before us.

fill your heart with art and creativity

Manon,

Such beautiful photographs - the pagoda, the reflections in the water. One of the many reasons this time of the year is my favorite, everything is still and silent.

The art a day challenge? You can do it! Dig deep and make it happen!

November 1st, can you believe it?

Enjoy your creative week,
Brian

Guess I know where I'm going the next time I'm in Canada! I love old cemeteries, but this kind I like best, almost like a botanical garden, with history and art and natural beauty combined. Your images are lovely! Good luck with the challenge. I once decided that for 12 months, every month I would do something or go somewhere I never did/visited before. I knocked a lot of things off my list that were long overdue - it was a great year! Can't wait to see what happens next for you!

Hi Manon. So glad I stopped by as you reminded me this was happening. Last year I attempted NaNoWriMo so left this one aside, but not this time! I'd just posted a bit of my current project so it was the perfect first post of the month!

Good luck with challenge! Is it possible that photography, poetry, flowers can be art examples too? That can add joy to the every day task routine. I like your photos so much, very artistic (no surprise here))).

I love the feeling of old that this pictures have, but I love the most, the colors on the first picture. Beautiful.

Yes.... it's very calming, Marie!!

Lessons, Linda? You have to be kiddin' me. I only know two settings on this camera and that's *easy* and *easier*......lol

You will have a super spoiled grandbaby, Deb, and you'll enjoy every moment of that!!

I love that prayer, Caio! They are beautiful words.

If you look closely in the reflection, Brian, you can see the goldfish!!

There is an old cemetery in front of my parent's condo complex, Gabriella. You would love that one.

I will pop by and see what you're up to, Lisa!!

Thanks, Cat!! I'm gonna give it my best try!!

Yes.... for sure, Irina!! All that!! I'm going to do everything I can think of....lol!

Awe.... thanks, Claudia!! Glad we're in on this together!!!

In the cemetery,
So calm,
so peaceful,
why is everyone
so quiet?

The perspective of these photographs is reflective of calm and peace. Such comforting structures surrounded by resting souls. The structures appear strong and are like refuge, for the living.

Ah, art everyday. Unless you mean how you live your life, creating, painting and drawing something takes so much energy...

Sometimes energy and inspiration from others - gives us the energy to play too.

Thank you for the quietness and poems. As we read the words, we felt what you were saying.

Words we needed to hear.
