Love is when you look into someone's eyes and suddenly you go
all the way inside their soul and you both know it. ~ author unknown.

It seems that I like to paint eyes even though they can frustrate me. I have been known to start them over countless times until I get to something I like. I have to remember....lol.... that my goal is not to get accurate looking eyes....it is to try to convey a mood or a feeling.

I do believe in the old saying that *eyes are the windows to the soul*...omg...I believe that. You can read so much in the eyes. I've seen anger, sadness, happiness, surprise, tenderness but what I love to see most is the look of love. You just can't beat that!! : )

Next post I will blog a painting that has been giving me big time fits!! Yup....it has been doing a J O B on me but I promise to show her who's boss...lol.

fill your heart with art

first off-HAPPY NEW YEARS to you and yours.
You may fight eyes Manon but they come off perfect in this. Not overdone but still as if I was looking into the soul of your painting. I think that is what you have tried to accomplish.
Well done

When I painted portraits, I always found that when the eyes were right, everything else fell into place. In fact, other features could be less accurate, but the eyes...oh yeah, they had to be perfect!
Love it---can't wait to see the one giving you fits.

happy new year!!

Another beauty to amaze us. :-)
When i start a drawing i ALWAYS start with one eye. From there on the figure will grow.
When painting i start with a quick set up for the whole figure.
I always struggle with the hands a lot. LOL

Good to have you back....

Monica

I love to sketch/paint eyes! Thanks for sharing about conveying a mood or feeling.....I always try to be so perfect and exact in replicating eyes....this helps me to think of it the way you said!

Great quote too!

The painting is great, but you’re right about the eyes. So much attention goes there.

Ah, the wonderful glow you painted here that is on the iris just opposite of the highlight, adds that shimmery quality that draws me in. So lovely!

Yes! Me too! I have to draw the eyes first before I start drawing anything else.

This is a beautiful painting, Manon. It looks so striking even when viewing the thumbnail alone.

As far as eyes are concerned, yours are the most beautiful!

Keep warm. Tsup!

Manon, I was just looking at the skin tones you accomplish in each of your pieces and my word! They are fabulous and such a rich blend of colors! I love your work; your heart and soul goes into each piece and that just shines right on through my computer monitor. You are one awesome artist and lady, oh friend o' mine.

Why do artists are so unsatisfied with their wonderful creations? Because when we get happy, we die as artists, the fire will go away, I think. So I hope your mood will change soon. And the eyes in this post are so beautiful.
