“Let your heart guide you. It whispers softly, so listen closely."
OMG.... I need some guidance from anyone on the current painting I'm working on.....lol. I'm not so sure what's going on but I am encountering frustration at every turn. After about an hour on her today I threw my hands in the air and decided to do a quick journal page. This is the page above. She was more than happy to pop up and show me some love today. : )

I thought I'd post my favorite paper to work on. I buy Arches Bright White Watercolor Paper, 300 lb. Rough, 22" x 30". Omg....I love the weight of this stuff and the deckled edges make my eyes light up. It is not cheap though. $18 for one 22" x 30" inch sheet.....yikes!! I cut this one down to 9" x 12" sheets and was left with small 5" x 5" pieces to give as little gifts. Actually....I don't cut.....I use a ruler to make a very strong crease and then tear the paper away from itself. It leaves me with the beautiful edges. The thing I like about this paper is how strong and hearty it is. Can you tell how much I really love it? lol
fill your heart with art and awesome art supplies.....u deserve it!!

hey manon! just waving as i go by - smiling at what you're doing! xoxo
(i love 300# arches too.. : )
sincerely ... sorry but I like this work.
and this áér .... ahhhh.... i love it . I used to buy it for printing and drawings more than 10 years ago .....
i still can feel the texture and weight on it on my fingers .
Happy hugs, Manon !
I won't dare advise you on painting, me dear, you have other experts here far more capable, but I do know from paper, and the stuff you use looks absolutely gorgeous, a delight for the eyes and I can only imagine what it's like to the touch, with all those lovely rough torn edges, and the sheets look so good unmarked, just waiting to be brought to life with your colors! Can you tell I'm a paper person? Sheesh.
Hi Manon,
Oh that paper is yummy-Arches is my fave too -I use the 140lb. hot press, it's easier to draw on. ASW has it in bulk - very affordable. I'm sure your painting is be gorgeous.
Just follow your heart my friend.
:)
hey Manon, something tells me that you get all googly-eyed when you walk into an art supply store. yeah... me too :)
lovely journal entry!
D.
She is so all right. I think. And
I am in love with my watercolor paper. Arches, CP, 140lb. Seriously. I touch it, caress, can not put my eyes of it)). And it is perfect. perfect.
If it was easy, we'd soon get bored! At least you're painting, rather than just starring at a blank page so you're miles ahead of thousands of people!
That paper does look lush!
My dear friend,
Oh how I wish I could help you there my sweet Manon... But i am afraid all the advice you can take from me is something I am sure you know too well... and that is> you cannot push yourself into things... especially in matters of the art (and the heart! LOL)
Lovely woman, I am sure you'lll do so well when you relax...
hugs
xoxoxo

Manon,
My only suggestion as far as your frustration, is to set it aside for a bit...start on something new and then come back to it. The journal page - there is something very "feline" about the face. I don't know if it's the eyes, nose or what.
Yep, let's just talk about supplies for the rest of the year ;) I'm right there with you, and Douglas, and G and everyone else! I think I'll place an order right now...
Hope you are well and warm!
Brian
At the risk of being banned from your blog forever (WAH!) here is what I see.
The contrast in the BG and the face is about the same level. The intensely red dress drives the eye down.
Consider some red/deep pink on the lip area and cheeks, and maybe either lighten the sky, or use a brighter blue wash.
She is almost there....she just hasn't finished putting her make up on.... ;D
I love the piece.
She'll emerge!
XXOO~~♥
Anne
hey, Lynne!! I'm waving back!! xo
Ah yes....this paper feels heavenly, Caio!!
G.....we are paper mates....lol.....because I love all kinds of papers. Don't get me started on rice paper...lol
Jane....I can buy a pack of three of these for $50....still steep!!
Thanks, Katelen!!
Douglas....are you kidding me? I kiss the ground and do a little dance in the art store!!
Try the 300 lb, Irina....you will love it!!
Lisa.... I guess I shouldn't keep banging my head against the wall then and keep at it...lol
Dulce.....yes....the muse will kiss my head soon....I hope!!
Hey Brian!! We should all get together and go supply shopping.....lol. That would be a blast!!
Anne...you are cracking me up. This is my journal page.....lol.....I haven't posted the painting yet.....lol
You're right about the red though.....lol!! xoxo
Arches is darn beautiful stuff! I'm of a lighter weight class and I like it hot, but any which way that paper is uber cool. Keep rockin' Manon! Always fun to visit.
As per the frustration - stop drawing, go out, get away... you've got to recharge the fuel cell.
i completely agree about the £300 paper...fabulous stuff and tears beautifully! ♥
Hi Manon,
that's exactly what i do when i'm stuck with a painting; to draw. It let the frustration out.
Your lady is so wonderful and i love the red a lot. I also love the tower (church?) on the background and the sun.
I'm with you about paper; i LOVE paper a lot. Being in a papershop makes me so happy. Yes, the edges are wonderful, the weight of the paper. I also love old smutted paper, and i once made my own paper that was so awesome.
Haha, don't get me started on paper. ;-)
Sweet greetz to you!
what a great photo and painting. Jan 31st is inspire your heart with art day. Hope this gives you a boost.
Peter.... I almost cried when i pulled the Arches off the shelf...lol...welll...not really but almost. : ))
Linda....I am always so impressed by the way it tears!!
Don't get me started either, Monica!! LOL
Awe....thank you, Melanie!!
The paintings great. I fold and tear too, when I use the paper..
Beautiful new friend you've created there! She has some wonderful, sage advice.
And ooooooh, that's gorgeous paper. Wouldn't I love to run my hands all over those!

If anyone deserves to have the best its you!
Oh she is so beautiful Manon. I especially like that sun and your overall palette. A bit of a shift, isn't it? But delightful as always!
Its those pieces that frustrate us the most that are usually some of our best work. You did the right thing just walking away and doing something else. I love your journal page. She came out gorgeous. I never tried that paper but I do like the rought edges. I'll have to look into that paper. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutly amazing creation!
Hugs Anja
That actually surprised me, that you get frustrated at times with your art!!! To me, it just seems to flow effortlessly from you, much like a dancer, an excellent dancer who makes everything look easy. **blows kisses** Deb
Maybe she's trying to tell you to paint about frustration. It is certainly a subject all artists encounter. Perhaps she has some words of wisdom to offer all of us who follow your blog?
Beautiful journal page too BTW.
hi manon!
oh i love your new journal page!
i cannot wait to see how you fill all of your favorite paper!

She is lovely, Manon! I like the re.
Oh yeah! I love Arches. I buy the pads 9"x12 both 140 and 300 but I prefer the heavier weight. Yes, they are expensive but they are beautiful.

Hey Manon sweet colorful lady!
As for your piece It's lovely and just trust yourself and go with it!
I love love arches!!!!!! Especially 300lb but it's so expensive! I go for arches cold press 140lb stonehenge and my favorite Handmade Vincent Rossini watercolor paper. I tear with a ruler.I love the edges once I tear it nicely. I love cold press it allows me to scratch the paint giving me that rough scratchy feeling when I use paint. I also love wood for that reason. Arches 300lb weight is perfect. So I think I will get two sheets tomorrow yeahhhh!!! Keep painting my friend! Your paintings are so beautiful and always poetic and sincere!
Yay Manon...such a gorgeous piece..beautiful brilliant and so true..following your heart....gorgeous!
