flawless imperfection

mixed media painting
9" x 12" mixed media on 300 lb watercolor paper
©manon doyle

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye.
~Miss Piggy

I seem to have gone a little overboard on the molding paste in this painting. I thought a whole minute about fixing her but I like that she's not perfect. I never paint anything that's flawless so why start now.....lol.

I'm heading out to the Valley of the Sun on Tuesday. I will be bringing some paint with me to AZ so I can work in my journal. I'll see ya'll from there!

fill your heart with art

She is PERFECT Manon!!! I love all the extra texture....somehow it makes the color punch right up and grab the eye!
Makes the viewer want to touch the painting; the contrast of blended paint against the under texture.
Beautiful....

Oh, Manon! No black eyes needed here! She is incredible, just as she is. I love that the backdrop is golden. It sets off that little blue heart so beautifully. And I love her delicately parted lips. Have a warm and wonderful time in AZ!

Real beauty is hiding in what is human, in what can’t be perfected. I Know someone must have said something like this.

Hello Manon, nothing that a bit of judicious sanding couldn't fix :) Last week I took your lead, whacked paste over a finished work - it's the kind of paste that is translucent at the start and clear at thr finish/ well after about twenty minutes it was still whitish.

I checked the jar - I'd used white accidently (they come in the same jars) Heh. Now I have a clean canvas :)

see you
