I've been taking my sweet old time with this one. I'm posting it as a *work in progress*
The quote about seems to be ringing true to me lately. I'm flippin' insane!! What does it mean when you repaint a painting over and over again? I don't mean taking out a new canvas and using the same subject. I'm actually throwing gesso on existing works and repainting things that no longer speak to me. I guess I could analyze this till I'm blue in the face and I'd probably come up with an answer something like ... I'm actually repainting myself.......yup......I'm a certifiable nutjob...lol. Lock me up and throw away the key or better yet.... get those paintings away from me. : ))

i think you are very resourceful reusung your canvases.
why buy more materials when you can use what is in your world and at your fingertips?
most people do not have the courage and cofidence to boldly erase past projects that do not speak to them any longer.

There needs to be a little insanity, or where is the fun, the reason for doing what we do anyway. I’ve said it before: your work is showing more depth. Liked the photo too…
Being a little bit mad goes with the artist territory I think! We see things differently that's all!
We're all insane.....and having a good time of it too I might add!
I see an incredible difference in the faces; a softness and refinement....a content soul and heart.
And the WIP...OMG....that is incredible. (please leave that pattern visible in the dress, I beg you!) It is exceptional.
Maybe you are just at the beginning of a new style definition and that is why you're repainting? :-)

Being insane is a part of being an artist,lol. I love your work in progress,especially love the inside of her dress. Can't wait to see her finishhed,the others are beautiful too.
Your kind of crazy the world could use a lot more of! Don't you ever go sane on me, girl or I'll have to pretend I don't know you! And yes, these paintings are all magnificent, whatever stage they are at! I sort of dig the idea of gesso-ing over a painting and putting another one on top of it. Gives it layers, a history, character.
oh sheesh... we all do it, over and over again... not insanity, just artistic expression...
We all search and search and search..LOL..It makes us who we are.
So we are all insane.

Well; I can attest that you are not insane! I do this all time. I gesso over a painting that I didn't like and just start over. I'm just going with it! I love what you are creating!

Manon, when I look at your very ea sy on the eye pic I see someone who is not insane - that's why it is so easy to believe that you are :) It's the ones that look crazy are the ones that you don't have to worry about...
by the way look into my eyes, They are blue in the middle with red bits around the outside and wrinkles on the lid margins) and repeat after me ... I" am crazy.... arghargh... I am crazy arrgh" :)
Manon that long one with the buildings in the background, the diaphanous dress over the patterning is a wonderful work, you should be proud to have made it,
anyway, there's nothing wrong with being mad... I ought to know :)
who wants to be non-insane anyway. gee the world is crazy, you have to be to fit in....

Hey, Andrew!!! I knew you were also pretty much a nutjob....LOL!!! Btw....the wrinkles around the eyes is pretty much why I don't want to go to my optometrist very often.....lol....I don't want glasses so I can see mine any clearer!!!!

Hello Manon...magical as ever...I love them ALL..especially the girl wiht long black hair all in white...gorgeous and enchanting! Your work always shines with such beauty! If yo are insane..so am I ha ha..i too paint over my work...i think it is like a build of of energy layers..like painted past lives..and the one that finally comes to reveal itself at the surface is the present energy!All the other layers were needed in order to get to this one! So you are not the only crazy artist out there ha ha!
